A distinguished attorney for almost 40 years, Thomas provided his community with a future of hope and excellence in education through his countless hours of courtroom litigation. After graduating Illinois College in 1982, he went on to pursue his law degree from Southern Illinois University in 1985. Thomas earned the reputation as an outstanding lawyer throughout the State of Illinois, serving as a CUSD #7 lawyer, a Chicago corporate litigator and an Assistant Chief Deputy to the Illinois Attorney General. Thomas has appeared in the United States Supreme Court, the Illinois Supreme Court and the state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the country. Thomas was instrumental in obtaining relief for the loss of the district’s elementary school sustained through mine subsidence. As Assistant Chief Deputy Attorney General, he handled matters on behalf of the governor throughout Illinois relating to the COVID 19 pandemic.
