Captain Robert Leone

Biography

Captain Robert Leone, a 1960 graduate of Benld High School, has led a distinguished career in military aviation and engineering. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, he entered the U.S Navy’s Aviation Program, where he completed flight training and earned his Wings of Gold. Captain Leone trained in the A-4 Skyhawk and completed two deployments to Vietnam, flying the A-4F from the deck of the USS Bon Homme Richard. His service included 175 combat missions, over 600 carrier landings, and more than 5,000 flight hours, reflecting his skill, courage, and dedication. Following his combat tours, Captain Leone served in various instructional and leadership roles across the country, including an assignment at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. His contributions to naval aviation and national defense were marked by excellence and professionalism.
