Peyton Bernot (He/ Him/ His)
Board of Education Member Gillespie CUSD 7Biography
Peyton was initially elected to the Board of Education in 2011 while he was a senior at Gillespie High School and served until 2018. Peyton rejoined the board in 2023. He obtained his undergraduate degree in political science and graduate degree in public sector labor relations from the University of Illinois. Peyton was a former staffer for the Illinois General Assembly’s bipartisan committee, the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, a former Human Rights Investigator and is currently the Grant Manager for the Rebuild Illinois Program in Springfield at the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Community Development, carrying out local public infrastructure improvements throughout the State. Peyton is a lifelong Benld resident where he resides with his grandmother where he serves as her guardian as she suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease and their rescued Bichon Frise/Poodle, Walker. He is an advocate of organized labor and LGBTQIA+ issues. Peyton is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. He is currently gradually pursuing a graduate degree in Public Administration from the University of Illinois.
